I am Somnath Mukherjee and I am in my early fifties. I was born in a district known as the granary of Bengal. My father used to be an engineer and worked with Indian railways. My mother was a housewife and also a singer.Though my father was rather fond of reading books, acting and directing plays. I grew up in an atmosphere surrounding of publication of little magazines, stage shows and games. I have always got drawn towards music since I was a little kid. I started learning Tabla, an Indian instrument at the age of 4 years and played first on stage with my mother at the age of 5 years. I have spent most of my childhood yearsliving in railway quarters in different locations around West Bengal.
